Mary is a "Native Floridian" who was born and raised in Ft. Lauderdale. She has been visiting Key West for forty years and appreciates the historical architecture of our town, as well as being familiar with the area and trends in real estate. Mary joined the Doug Mayberry Sales Team in February of 2011. Having had a successful and extensive background in sales and public relations, she understands the uniqueness and beauty of the Key West real estate market and strives to assist people in finding their dream home, and selling their existing property. In spending time with her clients, she truly senses their needs and desires of location, type of property and price range.
Prior to becoming a real estate agent Mary was a Flight Attendant with Eastern Airlines and worked with them for twenty five years. Her career encompassed traveling throughout the country and working with the VIPs of the business and entertainment worlds. During those years with Eastern Airlines she excelled in sales, customer-service, and caring about her crew and the passengers who traveled on her flights. Her organizational skills helped to ensure that everything went smoothly, even in difficult situations, and she was commended often on her ability to perform under pressure.
While Mary was living in Stuart, FL., she met casting director Lori Wyman, who asked Mary to be her assistant on a new television series they were filming in Jupiter, FL. The name of the series was "B.L. Stryker", part of the ABC Mystery Series starring Burt Reynolds. That was the beginning of Mary's friendship with Mr. Reynolds. It has continued over the years, with her participating and assisting him with his film and theatre institute in Jupiter. Recently, Mary was involved in the making of an independent film "Turkles" as an Associate Producer, working with veteran film maker Frank Eberle. She continues to be involved with the Burt Reynolds Institute for Film and Theatre (BRIFT) whenever she returns to the Jupiter area.
Currently, Mary is a volunteer on a committee of the Key West Association of Realtors which is fundraising for FIRM (Fair Insurance Rates for Monroe County) to keep the insurance rates down in our area. During the Gulf oil spill last year she was a volunteer with the Keys Oil Spill Group to help protect our environment and reefs, and was one of the participants interviewed by CBS Evening News. "Having lived in Florida all of my life, the waters around the Keys are the most pristine and beautiful, our reefs are the fourth largest in the world. I feel that we all have a responsibility to continue to protect these reefs and the sea life living within them."
Remembering the quaintness of Ft. Lauderdale of years ago, she feels that Key West still maintains the sleepy town feel, where people know each other, and life moves at a leisurely pace. "It's the best place to live, and unique unto itself."
