Kent is the newest member of the sales team at Doug Mayberry Real Estate. He was born in New Orleans and moved to Key West in 1987. Prior to moving to Key West, Kent was a REALTOR® for several years, specializing in New Orleans Historic Districts.
His re-entry into the real estate field follows a 23 year Key West-based career in sales and management of multiple branch offices with Interline Brands a national distribution company. His vast operational and administrative talents are being utilized in the continued expansion of Doug Mayberry Real Estate.
In 1994, Kent and his partner, architect Guillermo Orozco, bought their mid-century modern home in the New Town area of Key West. Their home has been recognized by the Historic Florida Keys Foundation and featured in several publications and a coffee table book entitled Key West A Tropical Lifestyle published in 2007.
Kent has had a life-long devotion to learning for personal enrichment. In 2007, he obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Philosophy, Politics and Economics via distance education graduating Magna cum Laude from the University of Oregon.
The spirit of generosity that is so much a part of Key West’s culture affected Kent early on. Since arriving in Key West, Kent has been involved in the community as a Big Brother, a Literacy Volunteer, a mentor and as a proponent of environmental causes. He has also had a long-term commitment to Plan International fighting child poverty. In 1999, he visited his sponsored family in Barranquilla, Colombia where he witnessed firsthand the community improvements from Plan’s works.
Kent and his partner, Guillermo, love to travel and have enjoyed dozens of spectacular home exchanges around the world. Other hobbies of Kent’s are reading, weight training, biking, yoga, cooking and nutrition. Kent occasionally writes political commentary and book reviews in the Solares Hill and the Key West Citizen.
Through his career in real estate, Kent truly enjoys helping people whether that means moving to the next exciting chapter and selling your current home or realizing your dream of home ownership in Key West.
